A man is currently on the run after his girlfriend, a Lagos State University graduate known as Adija, was discovered dead in his apartment in the Meiran area of Lagos State.
The tragic incident occurred on February 26, 2025, after Adija visited her boyfriend following his invitation. When she failed to return home or respond to calls, her family grew concerned and decided to check on her.
According to an Instagram user, @Eyeopener, the family arrived at the boyfriend’s residence only to find the door locked. Upon forcing it open, they were met with a devastating sight—Adija’s lifeless body lying on the bed, covered with a duvet.
Reports indicate that the couple had been in a long-term but toxic relationship since her first year at university. Adija frequently spent weekdays at his apartment, only returning home on weekends. Neighbors revealed that loud arguments were heard from the apartment the night before her death, but they did not intervene, assuming it was another of their frequent disputes.
The following morning, as calls to Adija’s phone went unanswered, her family’s concerns deepened, eventually leading to the grim discovery.
A close family member, Tosin, shared that Adija was raised by a single mother who struggled to provide for her education and well-being.
“Her mother went through so much to raise her children. Now, this has happened. The suspect even called her mother, saying he was ready to die as well,” Tosin revealed.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin stating that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
In a separate incident, the Ogun State Police Command is investigating another case in which a man, identified only as Oju, allegedly stabbed his 36-year-old wife to death in the Agbure community. A manhunt has been launched to track him down.
Authorities continue to urge the public to report any information that may assist in these investigations.
