NGO brings succour to less privileged, widows, aged in Igbaro community, Ibadan

In an attempt to cushion the heightened rise of poverty, hunger and health challenges at the grassroots, a Non-Governmental Organisation, Enablers Diaspora Grassroots Support Outreach (EDGSO), has provided free medical services and food items worth several millions of naira to the less privileged at Igbaro Town in Lagelu Local Government Area in Ibadan, Oyo state.

The NGO, on Tuesday, gave out drugs and food items to residents of the town, which cut across all categories of people, among whom were children, adults and the aged, irrespective of their religious affiliation or faith.

The residents came out in large numbers to receive the different staple food items, such as semovita, cassava flakes and noodles.

A beneficiary, Chief Mrs Beatrice Akintunde, the Iyalode of Igbaro, urged other well to do people in the society to emulate good gesture of Enablers Diaspora Grassroots Support Outreach.

“We give glory unto God and we pray that people will continue to help the less privileged like what the organisation did today.”

“We want the government to take a cue from this NGO. Why? Because the challenges we have are many, they should be encouraged by what non governmental organisations like this are doing, “she said.

The Baale of Igbaro Town, Chief Adesunbo Abraham Adeyemo, said that the Enablers Diaspora Grassroots Outreach had brought the medical outreach to Igbaro, Kusela and other neighbouring villages on three occasions.

He added that the drugs he received during the 2024 outreach lasted for almost a year which saved him from buying expensive drugs from pharmacies.

The traditional ruler noted that a lot of lives had been saved from untimely death due to medical outreach and food support of the Enablers.

He prayed for good health and abundant prosperity for the president of Enablers Outreach, Chief Mrs Oyeyinka Wilson, entire Enablers team, and sponsors.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the President of Enablers Diaspora Grassroots Support Outreach, Chief Mrs Ayoyinka Wilson, advised people to check their health status regularly and avoid waiting till ailments get complicated before taking action.

“She warned that certain habits such as smoking, excessive intake of alcoholic drinks, drug abuse, dirtiness and other unhealthy lifestyles could shorten lifespan or lead to untimely death.

We are treating all participants and giving them multivitamins, paracetamol and other essential drugs.

“Apart from drugs, we are giving foodstuffs, clothes, shoes and household essentials to the people,” she said.

Chief Mrs Wilson appreciated members of Enablers Diaspora Grassroots Outreach and people who had contributed to the success of outreach in Igbaro Town and other outreach locations.
