A Foundation based at the Osun State College Of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke has donated a whopping sum of N100,000 to an indigent Student of Institution recently to assist her in her academic pursuit in the Institution.
Giving out the donation in the Institution’s main Campus recently, the Rector of the State Tertiary Institution, Dr. Samson Omobayo Adegoke made another history when he presented a cheque of N100,000 to one Miss Aluko Abosede Jumoke, a National Diploma 2 in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology on behalf of members of OSCOTECH Foundation.
According to the Director of Media and Partnership of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa Oke, Dr. Wale Oyekanmi, through a press release he signed and sent to PMParrot said “the beneficiary of the donation from the Institution’s Foundation was rescued by some good Samaritans when she attempted to commit suicide because she was unable to pay her school fees while the School’s examination was going on in the College”.
Oyekanmi maintained “that the Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) established by the Staff members of the Institution and financed through donations from their salaries”.
He, Oyekanmi explained that the first philanthropic gesture by the Foundation was the feeding of the less priviledged in seven communities around the Institution which are Esa-Oke, Ìjẹ̀bú-Jẹ̀ṣà, Ilóko-Ìjẹ̀sà, Ijeda, Ìwòye-Ìjẹ̀sà, Esa- Odo, Ère-Ìjẹ̀sà and Etí-Òní during the Covid- 19 lock down experienced last year 2020.
While speaking during the formal presentation of the Foundation’s Donation, “the Rector of the College, Dr. Samson Omobayo Adegoke thanked all those who donated to the Foundation and appeals to those who are yet to be part of the initiative to do so”.
Adegoke seized the opportunity to appeal to all the indigent students of the College to seek assistance from people instead of taking the decision of ending their lives.
The Rector of the College also unveiled that there will be a general test for all indigent Students in the Institution, the successful ones will be given scholarships to pursue their programmes in the Institution from the beginning of this academic session.
The Mother of the Student was equally present at the ceremony with members of the Rector-in-Council.
