OYCCIMA, Oyo Government Set for EXPOYO 2025

The Oyo State Council of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (OYCCIMA), in partnership with the Oyo State Government, is gearing up for the 2025 Oyo State International Trade Fair (EXPOYO).

Themed “Achieving Food Security and Economic Stability in Oyo State Through Massive Investment in Agriculture,” the event is scheduled to take place from April 4 to April 11, 2025. Governor Seyi Makinde will officially declare the trade fair open.

Speaking at a press conference in Ibadan on Wednesday ahead of the event, OYCCIMA President, Dr. Daniel Gbadero, emphasized the significance of this year’s theme, highlighting the urgent need to harness the state’s agricultural potential to ensure food sufficiency, create employment opportunities, and drive economic growth.

According to Dr. Gbadero, investing in agriculture is a direct investment in the economy, as it contributes significantly to GDP growth, reduces dependence on imported food, and ensures price stability in the market.

He further stated that with enhanced productivity and modern agricultural practices, Oyo State has the potential to become a leading food supplier for the nation and a key exporter of agricultural products.

According to him, the event aims to showcase investment opportunities, facilitate knowledge exchange, promote agribusiness and value addition, enhance partnerships and collaborations, and encourage the active participation of youth and women in the agricultural sector.

Dr. Gbadero called for the active participation of government agencies, private investors, financial institutions, research bodies, and development partners in the trade fair to unlock the full potential of Oyo State’s agricultural sector and ensure long-term food security and economic stability.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperative, and Industry, Hon. Adeniyi Adebisi, described EXPOYO 2025 as a landmark event that underscores the state government’s commitment to promoting trade, investment, and economic growth.

He noted that EXPOYO 2025 is a strategic initiative designed to harness the state’s economic potential, bring together stakeholders from various sectors, and showcase the best of Oyo State’s products and services.

“This international trade fair is a collaborative effort between the Oyo State Government and OYCCIMA,” Hon. Adebisi stated.

He also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support and approval of EXPOYO 2025, acknowledging the governor’s leadership and vision as instrumental in driving economic growth and development in Oyo State.

“We appreciate his commitment to creating opportunities for businesses to thrive and his efforts in positioning Oyo State as a hub for trade and investment,” he added.
