As part of his readiness of rendering humanitarian services,
a senatorial aspirant in Oyo South senatorial district under the platform
All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi popularly known
as SOJ has empowered 126 beneficiaries on Information and Communication
Technology skill acquisition in Oyo state.
At the 5th Convocation ceremony of Free ICT and IT training by Rilwan
Adesoji Akanbi Foundation (RAAF) at the weekend, SOJ stated his
further readiness to
alleviate poverty, rendering financial assistance to less privilege and
handicap children in area of education and setting up widows on small scale
businesses.
He maintained that the idea of setting up the Non-Governmental organization
came after the demise of his father who was a philanthropist.
According to him, his father was not a billionaire but believed in sharing,
an habit he cultivated adding that, what rekindled his passion for
humanitarian services was how sons of late Are Musulumi of Yorubaland,
Alhaji Arisekola Alao and Folawiyo cater so well for the less privileged
during one of his pilgrimage to Saudi-Arabia recently.
Also speaking at the event, the coordinator of the foundation, Mr. Oluwole
Ajayi said SOJ’s gesture is a bid towards returning to the society what he
had benefitted in the past to ensuring a better future and a greater
nation.
He added that the gesture is out of favoritism or nepotism saying that the
opportunity is opened to all and sundry irrespective of political
affiliation. He also said that it is the reason the form is only available
on website to able to access ready minded students as a way to achieve
result.
He stated that the gesture cut across all strata like RAAF ICT training,
RAAF Education scholarship, RAAF job clinic, RAAF health care, RAAF
community support and among others.
One of the beneficiaries, Hamzat Ibrahim Opeyemi said his dad told him
about the opportunity and he visited the website to follow instruction to
apply. He said it is rare among politicians who had not been given mandate
but empowering people, a meaning that if SOJ is eventually given the
mandate by the people, he will do more than this”.
Another beneficiary, Salami Nurudeen Adeyemi said a member of his mosque
told him about the opportunity that a senatorial aspirant is offering an
opportunity. He added the knowledge he acquired there helped him to pass a
computer base test which enabled him gained admission into university of
Ibadan”.
