The Ibadan Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Aperin Oniyere, Ibadan, on Thursday, September 25, 2025, hosted its annual ICAGSOBA National Prize Giving Day, organized by the old students association to reward academic excellence and inspire future achievers.

Now in its fourth year, the programme saw the presentation of over 150 prizes to students and teachers, including a Dell laptop to the overall best student in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Other awards included cash donations, subject prizes, and the sponsorship of WAEC examinations in 2026 for some top-performing students.

He added that the association also organizes career talks and WASSCE seminars annually to further prepare students for academic success.

Dr. Thomas commended members of the association for their consistent support and appealed to the Oyo State Government to assist the school in areas of infrastructure, teaching resources, and capacity development for teachers. He further disclosed that the body was working towards making the school an accredited CBT center for WAEC examinations to boost students’ performance.

The Organizing Chairman, Pastor Prince Leye Adefioye, represented by Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Taofeek Opasanya, delivered a keynote address on the theme: “The Role of Alternative Care for Children and its Effects in Bringing Educational Excellence to Schools.” He encouraged parents to remain actively involved in their children’s education as their first teachers and role models.
