Singer Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid could not hide his love feeling for his duet partner, Tems as he publicly professed his love to her as their hit collaboration ‘Essence’ goes platinum in the United States of America.
‘Essence’ was released in October 2020 as the 11th song on Made in Lagos, Wizkid’s fourth studio album.
In a video that went viral on Monday, September 4, 2021, the 31-year-old congratulated Tems, saying that she is a superstar and the world needs more of her.

Kemi Filani reports that Wizkid and Tems received the gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on Sunday night.

In 2020, Wizkid became the first African artiste to be certified gold in the United States, after 500,000 units of ‘Come Closer’ were sold.
‘Essence’ becomes his second to be certified this year after his 2017 song, ‘Come Closer’, featuring Canadian rapper, Drake, was certified platinum and gold in the UK and Australia respectively in April.
The song also peaked at number 16 on billboard hot 100.
