Popular Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has appealed to Lagos residents to come forward and collect portions of her famous Jollof rice prepared in the world’s largest pot.
In a passionate video message shared in the early hours of Sunday, Baci said the food was still in large quantities despite continuous packaging and distribution.
“Please come and get the food, it’s a lot and I can’t waste it. We are still packaging food. There is still so much food. Please, you guys, come through and come and get the food,” she pleaded.
The celebrity chef, who became a household name after her record-breaking cook-a-thon in 2023, emphasized that the Jollof rice remained fresh and tasty.
“I promise you, Etriah will convince you. Just come through. You can bring your coolers. Even with all the packaging, there is still so much food. Please, I beg you, you guys, you can come to the hotel,” she said.
Baci revealed that she had been at the venue since the previous day, supervising the distribution, and vowed not to leave until every last grain was shared.
“This is 6 a.m. I’m not leaving this place. I’ve been here since the day before yesterday and I’m not going to leave this place until this spot is empty and until everybody in Lagos has eaten from this food,” she added.
Her call has since stirred excitement among fans and food lovers, many of whom expressed eagerness to taste the Jollof from the world’s largest pot — an event that has further cemented her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated culinary icons.
