The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) President General, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga has found himself in alleged misappropriation of fund and moral recklessness.
Adeaga, whose tenure as the President General of CCII would end in July is seeking re-election.
A source, who pleaded anonymity said people are against Adeaga’s second term bid due to alleged corruption characterised his administration.
According to the source, misappropriation under Adeaga’s administration has become so worrisome that even other members of Adeaga executive cried out for rescue of the once celebrated CCII, that is well known for selfless and communal services to Ibadanland.
The source said, “One of Adeaga’s major transgressions is the manner he misappropriated the fund meant for the Annual Scholarship for indigents brilliant Ibadan sons and daughters in Higher Institutions of learning.”
“The Oyo State Governor who is also a son of the soil made a personal donation of 10 million Naira during the inaguration of Adeaga as President General of the Council in 2021.The Governor made it clear that the money was meant for scholarship, but the money was spent by the President General for another thing without the knowledge of majority of members of Executive Council expect the National Treasurer with whom the President General withdrew the money. No discussion was made at the executive meeting.”
“The reliable source disclosed that a total sum of N24m was raised during the said inaguration which included Engr. Dotun Sanusi and Agbaoye Kola Kareem lion donations running into Millions of Naira. The Scholarship subcommittee called for applications from Students who were later interviewed and shortlisted but money was not made available for the shortlisted students. The Chairman of the Subcommittee who is respected Principal of a Secondary School in Ibadan resigned to avoid her name being soiled by this disgraceful acts of the President General.”
“The failure to assist the indigents students became a crisis in 2023, this forced Adeaga to hurriedly ask the present 2nd Vice President General to conduct another screening and a Kangaroo bursary totalling N4.2 Million was given to limited number of students with reduced take home to them.”
“Again, CCII makes N25 million from the 2022 ‘Ibadan Week’ through the leadership of Balogun Gafar Ojetola, despite all money raised, the ongoing project initiated by the former president, Soladoye (Olubadan Guest House at Oke-Aremo) is yet to be completed.”
“Over N70m has been raised as constituency allowance from Abuja for the ongoing construction of Olubadan palace, there is no traces of the money for the palace except the entrance gate that is been built, this forced Olubadan and Olubadan advisory council to make an unscheduled visit to the palace to know level of work going on there.”
“Olubadan and his entorage felt worried and summoned CCII excecutive to explain what happened, so, these are part of what we considered before insisting that Adeaga is not worth being re-elected.”
“Adeaga’s exco has over ten points impeachable offenses against him, most of his exco said the President General failed to carry them along in all he has been doing, so they are not happy with him.”
“At the peak of this crisis, all Ibadan Elders from Ibadan Progressive Union led by Prelate Sunday Ola Makinde and Chief Bayo Oyero called for peace meeting, the meeting which started around 11am at Prelate Makindes house ended around 7pm.”
“A decision was made at the end of the meeting that with all allegations and Adeaga’s inability to defend them, Adeaga should forget second term bid, but even with that, he still insisted to contest.”
“Adeaga was also summorned by all the five past CCII President General at Chief Bode Amoo’s house, he couldn’t respond to all the allegations levelled against him, they also told him to forget recontesting, yet he insisted.
