A tragic hit-and-run accident on Saturday claimed the life of a teenage girl, believed to be about 15 years old, at the Muslim Under Bridge area along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred in the afternoon while the girl attempted to cross the expressway from one side of the bridge to the other. She was struck by a speeding vehicle whose driver refused to stop and immediately fled the scene.
As of press time, the identity of the deceased remains unknown. Her body was seen lying by the roadside, attracting a crowd of shocked residents and passersby.
One witness, Mrs. Yetunde Balogun, a food vendor in the area, described the victim as a young girl who looked like a secondary school student.
“She looked very young. Nobody knows her around here, and no one has come to look for her since it happened,” she told reporters.
Efforts to get confirmation from the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, proved unsuccessful, as calls placed to his phone went unanswered at the time of filing this report.
