……Felicitate with Muslims on Sallah celebration

The National Chairman, Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum (ODCF), Alhaji Ahmed Raji SAN, has called on the people of Iseyin to do all within their means to make students Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) comfortable when they resume for academic activities in their Iseyin campus.

Reports had it that preparations are in high gear for the students to resume at the LAUTECH College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resource, located along Iseyin-Okeho road.

Raji called on landlords, landladies as well as estate agents in the community not to take advantage of the students by extorting them, while he enjoined market women and artizans to also give their supports to the students, who he said might be coming to Iseyin for the first time.

In a statement issued by the legal counsel on Saturday to felicitate with Muslims on the celebration of Eid-il-Fitri on Friday, Raji said Iseyin people must rally support for successful commencement of academic activities at the college and part of such effort is to provide comfortable accommodation for the resuming students and the members of staff of the institution.

“While appreciating the Almighty Allah for giving us the opportunity to witness the end of another Ramadan and to celebrate the Sallah with families and friends, I wish to call upon the people of Iseyin to make all efforts possible for ease of commencement of academic activities at the LAUTECH College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources in our town.

“It is pertinent to note that the resuming students and staffers will need accommodation, it is incumbent upon us not to make this process cumbersome for them by making the rent unaffordable, they are our students and our children as well.

“Their welfare, apart from accommodation, in the area of security, cost of food items and others are also to be put in perspective so as the State government will not regret taking the decision of siting the campus in our community.”

He used the medium to appreciate Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for walking his talk on the projected resumption of students at the College, which he said all indications pointed to the fact that it has come to pass, as the governing council already directed the management of the institution to commence academic activities in May, 2023.

In the same vein, a former Chairman of Iseyin local government, Alhaji Saheed Alaran has charged transporters, artizans and owners of vacant apartments to apply decorum and human face to their charges.

Alaran who spoke with journalists after addressing members of the the Progressive Movement of Oke-Ogun (PROMO) who were at the LAUTECH’s College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources campus at Iseyin on Saturday, said although the management of the institution did not disclose the actual day in May for the resumption, preparations were at high level by the school management and stakeholders in the community.

He also charged estate agents not to take undue advantage of the resuming students and staffers of the school.
