Call for Expression of Interest to become a YOUTH ACTIVIST on elimination of Harmful Traditional Practices (FGM), GBV, VAWC and Child Marriage.

Project Title: Strengthening Youth participation in policy advocacy and reporting on the elimination of harmful practices (Female Genital Mutilation), GBV, VAWC and Child Marriage in Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North and Kajola LGAs of Oyo State.

Project Duration: 8 months (January – August 2023)

Term of Service: Volunteering (Online and Onsite)

Remuneration: NGN25,000/Month (with other benefits)

The Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria is partnering with UNICEF to implement a programme aimed at preventing, mitigating and responding to FGM, GBV, VAWC and Child Marriage in 6 communities, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North and Kajola LGAs of Oyo State.

In this eight-month programme (January – August 2023), we are currently recruiting 10 YOUTH ACTIVISTS (Male and female) living in Eruwa & Lanlate (Ibarapa East), Ayete and Igangan (Ibarapa North) and Gbonje and Ayetoro (Kajola); who will be trained, empowered on policy advocacy and reporting on the elimination of FGM, GBV, VAWC and Child Marriage in 3 LGAs (Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North and Kajola) in Oyo State.

If you are interested in promoting girls’ and women’s rights and standing up against FGM, GBV, VAWC and Child Marriage apply to become a YOUTH ACTIVISTS.

Profile of a YOUTH ACTIVIST. You;are a youth (age 18 – 29years) living in the intervention community are an active member of an association (voluntary, religious, social, cultural, etc) be accepted and respected by the members of the association are bold, vocal with strong advocacy skillswill not relocate from the community before August 2023 are reliable, trustworthy and self-confidentare open minded and reject all forms of discrimination are willing to facilitate change within your community are prepared to face resistancehave very good communication abilities (written, spoken and reading)are fluent in English / the local language (Yoruba, etc.)have the time, energy and motivation to participate in the projectwill step down the training to members of your youth associationwill create awareness about ending FGM in your family and community. will volunteer and not demand financial remuneration as a result of the assignment are willing to be a role model Duties of YOUTH ACTIVISTto participate in the programme from January – August, 2023to participate in three-day training sessionsto participate in weekly social media conferenceto mobilize online and offline pledges for Movement for Good to participate and lead advocacy for the abandonment of FGM, GBV, VAWC and Child Marriageto encourage behaviour change about FGM, GBV, VAWC and Child Marriageto document and disseminated stories contribute to an advocacy report through photos, testimonies, interviews etc.to participate in the activities of the YOUTH ACTIVISTS to support and motivate other YOUTH ACTIVISTsto collaborate with other volunteers that are involved in the M4Good to end FGM to participate in other project activitiesto identify and report FGM, GBV, VAWC and Child Marriage cases to the appropriate authorities in your community
